We regularly offer workshops for the °ÅÀÖÊÓÆµ community focused on mental health, adjustment and developmental topics. These are designed to help students learn skills and strategies related to well-being in an easily-accessible format, such as Mindful Coping, Wise Mind: Building Emotional Resilience, Self-Compassion, Executive Functioning, QPR suicide prevention trainings, and UC tabling events.

Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Training

Rewriting My Story (Therapy Group)
Date/Time: Wednesdays, Starting February 18th through March 18th (5 weeks) @ 4-5PM
Location: SCC Group Room Forest Grove
-A supportive, interactive group for students experiencing stress, feeling stuck, or struggling with limiting self-beliefs.The group offers practical tools to empower you to shape your own story of who you are and what you are capable of. You will learn how to separate yourself from problems, reduce the impact of unhelpful thoughts, clarify what matters most to you, recognize your strengths and moments of resilience, and take small, meaningful steps toward your goals. The group emphasizes safety, privacy, non-judgment, and peer support while normalizing the challenges of being human.
Mental Glow Up

Effective and Engaged Learning

-Participate in a new workshop being offered by clinical staff from the Student Counseling Center! Are you struggling to get homework done? Focus on tasks?
Explore how to boost your engagement and learning through a dive into executive functioning skills. Review strategies to help address procrastination, boost time management, build focus, give your memory some help, and develop more effective decision-making. Executive functioning skills are the foundation of effective and engaged learning, come learn how to nurture these skills!

Crash Out to Coping

-Crash Out to Coping will provide you with skills to recognize and manage strong emotions you may be experiencing. This workshop stems from the concepts of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), focusing on Core Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, and Emotion Regulation.
Be Sensitive, Be Brave for Mental Health

-Be Sensitive, Be Brave for Mental Health infuses culture and diversity throughout a foundational workshop on mental health. This free workshop teaches Pacific campus community members to act as eyes and ears for mental health distress and to connect individuals to help.

-Anxiety Toolbox is a 1 hour workshop that will help you understand what anxiety is, explore thoughts and behaviors that impact anxiety, and develop strategies to better cope with anxiety.

This guide was created by the Student Counseling Center and the Mental Health Promotion Working Group multidisciplinary team. This resource has been guided by best practices and the results of the Healthy Minds Study Conducted in Fall 2023. Please direct any questions to counselingcenter@pacificu.edu. An asynchronous training for this guide is in development.
Staff from the Student Counseling Center enjoy connecting with our Pacific community in many ways, including facilitating mental health-related workshops. Please note that because of the high clinical demand at our center, we need at least two weeks’ notice to schedule an event. All requests are subject to approval by SCC staff and not all requests can be accommodated. We look forward to working with you!

These groups provide spaces for individuals to connect around shared interests, experiences, and community-building efforts. Participation is not restricted by race, ethnicity, or any other protected characteristic, and all are welcome to engage in discussions and activities.
