  • Accelerated MSW for BSW graduates: Students who graduate with a bachelor of social work (BSW) from Pacific may be eligible for an accelerated master’s of social work (MSW) program. Because the BSW is accredited through the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) curriculum, BSW graduates are eligible to skip the 1st year of the MSW program, which allows them to apply to a MSW program with the goal of completing it in just one year.

Declaring a Major in Social Work

  • Pacific students normally declare majors by the end of their sophomore year or at 45 earned credits. For Social Work, the process is different. Students must:
    • Successfully complete SOCWK 201: Principles of Social Work.
    • Complete the program’s application process, including submission of materials and an interview.
    • Transfer students are eligible to apply during their first year. Application materials are available on the Social Work program webpages.
    • Students may not declare Social Work as a major until they have been formally accepted into the program.
    • Students should be aware that the Social Work Program includes substantial time in field placements in various courses and a 440-hour practicum senior year.
