The McCall Center for Civic Engagement encourages all Boxers to take part in improving our community. No matter your interests, skills, passions, or access to resources like time or transportation, we can help you find a way to get involved.

We host events on the Forest Grove campus, share opportunities in the broader community, and partner with a wide variety of different campus units and student groups to help you put on amazing civic engagement events of your own!

Do you know what transferable skills to look for in a candidate interview? Can you describe what skills your volunteers, interns, and entry level employees will gain during their time with you? “Work ready” employability skills and competencies are gaining prominence in the national conversation & are increasingly required in job postings (including student jobs, internships, and community service work study positions for Pacific students). Please join us for a one-hour professional development session on Tuesday, September 2nd for a deep dive into using Pacific's "Core Competencies" in your job postings and interviews!

Forest Grove, Hillsboro

Sarah Cavanagh, author of Mind Over Monsters: Supporting Youth Mental Health with Compassionate Challenge, will visit campus on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. A wide variety of events will be planned on, inviting students, faculty, and staff to engage with Prof. Cavanagh and the concept of “compassionate challenge” in the college classroom. Dr. Sarah Rose Cavanagh, author of Mind Over Monsters: Supporting Youth Mental Health with Compassionate Challenge, on the Forest Grove campus this Wednesday, September 17. There will be multiple in-person and zoom opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to engage with Dr. Cavanagh and her work on "compassionate challenge" in the college classroom. All faculty and staff are invited join us for one or more of the day's events: morning keynote, afternoon implementation and calibration workshop, and/or classroom visit! Learn more and RSVP.
