Mission Statement

The Bobadilla Aggression and Disinhibitory Disorders (B.A.D.D) lab is a part of the Clinical Psychology PhD program at °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ. Led by Dr. Leonardo Bobadilla PhD, our lab is mainly focused on psychopathy and given the syndrome's relationship to antisociality, our research broadly covers topics related to violent and aggressive behavior (domestic, sexual, etc.), related personality clusters (borderline, narcissistic); risk assessment, and the relation of these issues to forensic psychology practice. We maintain clinical and research partnerships with community organizations such as the Clark County Sheriff’s Jail and Oregon State Hospital to supplement our research and clinical work.

In addition, my lab is committed to fostering a culturally responsive environment that leverages the unique insights of diverse perspectives, particularly for bilingual and bicultural communities, to create more equitable and effective assessment and treatment protocols.

Lab Ethos: A guide for Prospective Students

My lab operates on a foundation of academic freedom, which we view as the cornerstone of our ability to research and teach freely. We are dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge through rigorous inquiry pushing the boundaries of our current understanding of our main areas of interest no matter how controversial. We are interested in students who are intellectually curious about topics in forensic psychology and able to approach challenging subject matter from multiple angles. Our work integrates a variety of perspectives and backgrounds, thus we appreciate critical thinking and discussion related to issues of diversity within psychology and the criminal justice system

Students interested in our lab must familiarize themselves with the and professor Taleb’s book (2012). In my lab, we believe that ideas, like organisms in a challenging environment, do not just survive stress—they grow stronger because of it. By actively seeking out criticism, entertaining opposing viewpoints, and subjecting our hypotheses to the most rigorous and skeptical analysis, we ensure that our research is robust and resilient and through this method of training, also create antifragile students and future psychologists.

If you are interested in learning more about our lab and any current research projects, please read carefully through our website and if you still have questions, please feel free to reach out to one of our current lab members or Dr. Bobadilla.
