U.S News & World Report has ranked ������Ƶ as Oregon’s top private national university.

Pacific received the rating based on offering a full range of undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs, as well as a focus on research. Pacific’s rating was higher nationally than every other institution in Oregon except for the state’s three largest public institutions.

The designation comes on the heels of being named last spring as a Research College & University by the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. The designation bolsters Pacific’s status as the top private research institution in the Pacific Northwest.

Additionally, Pacific was recognized by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education for its ability to provide access to quality education and significant earnings potential for its alumni. This honor demonstrates that excellence in education and affordability go hand in hand.

The new Carnegie Foundation designations, released for the first time in the spring, are the future of college rankings, providing new and innovative measures of opportunity, academic success and impact for students as they leave college and enter the workforce.

“These external rankings confirm what we already know: that Pacific serves students who may not otherwise have access to higher education,” said Barbara May, vice president for academic affairs and provost. “Those students go on to achieve meaningful success because of their Pacific experience.”

But rankings are only one measure of Pacific’s value. As Oregon’s Opportunity University, Pacific is expanding access and creating more direct pathways to meaningful careers.     

Through Pacific Priority, incoming undergraduates can secure guaranteed admission to one of 11 graduate programs, provided they meet academic prerequisites. The program also includes a four-year graduation guarantee for most majors and a two-year guarantee for transfer students in Oregon, Washington, California and Hawaiʻi.

Additionally, Pacific has been named to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s Transfer Honor Roll, recognizing universities that provide exceptional support to transfer students, and has also been recognized by MilitarySupportiveColleges.com as one of the West’s most supportive schools for military veterans.

To increase opportunity and accessibility for students, Pacific recently received a $1.36 million, five-year TRIO Student Support Services Grant from the U.S. Department of Education to enhance academic support for first-generation students, low-income students, and students with disabilities.
