MFA Mapmakers Alumni Institute Blends Poetry and Visual Arts

Beyond Ekphrastic: From integrating photographs into the poem to the implicit ways poetry informs the creation of a visual art piece, join poets , ,   and as they discuss how they work with text and the visual. How do the two mediums overlap and intersect? What meaning does the visual bring forward that language fails to articulate and/or fully express?

Register now for the summer session of the °ÅÀÖÊÓÆµ MFA Mapmakers Alumni Institute, a new initiative to continue our engagement and support of Mapmakers Scholars who have graduated from the program, to help bring their work to the world. Part of the MFA's June residency, this virtual event at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 26 is free and open to the public. Registration required.

June's event is organized by Mapmaker alumna Catherine-Esther Cowie MFA '20. 

The Mapmakers Scholarship fund is named after Mapmaker, an early collection of poems by MFA faculty member Kwame Dawes
