Ready Day One: Hiring "Work Ready"
Description

Do you know what transferable skills to look for in a candidate interview? Can you describe what skills your volunteers, interns, and entry level employees will gain during their time with you? “Work ready” employability skills and competencies are gaining prominence in the national conversation & are increasingly required in job postings (including student jobs, internships, and community service work study positions for Pacific students).

Please join us at the Fall 2025 Partner with Pacific event to explore Pacific's "Core Competencies", learn how to use them in your job posting and interviews, and share with us what you want to see in our graduates so we can work towards graduating students with the skills valued by our local business and nonprofit community!

About Partner with Pacific:

Partner with Pacific is Ƶ's biannual professional development session for community partners, community partners, and local employers. Hosted by the McCall Center for Civic Engagement and Academic and Career Advising, this free series helps employers prepare to welcome the Gen Z workforce and maximize their 21st century skill-set.

The Fall 2025 session will take place on Pacific’s Forest Grove campus on the morning of September 2 (directly before our Fall Work & Service Fair). Fair attendees are specifically encouraged to attend, however the session is open to all interested community partners, campus partners, and local employers.

An RSVP is not required but is strongly recommended to ensure we have sufficient coffee, tea, and breakfast pastries!

Following Partner with Pacific, attendees are invited to further network with Ƶ staff and faculty at the Work & Service Fair’s “Reception Corner” and will be given the opportunity to help select the topic for the Spring 2026 session.
