Description

Join the °ÅÀÖÊÓÆµ Libraries, in collaboration with , for an exhibit opening and conversation with Elizabeth Mehren, author of . The book shares the experiences of survivors of the Holocaust, genocide, and the atrocities of war, including two distinguished members of the Pacific community—Tim Tran and Professor of Music Dr. Dijana Ihas. 

 

Mehren will be joined by Dr. Ihas for a discussion on the politics of war and immigration, the power of personal narrative in shaping the historical record, and a short reading from the book. The program will also include a musical performance by Dr. Ihas.

 

An accompanying exhibit of photographs from The Immigrant Story, by Portland photographer Jim Lommasson, will be on display in the Tran Library exhibit space through November 2025.
