Upcoming CETCI Workshops on Creating Educational Games in Moodle
We would like to invite you to two workshops we will be offering later this month on creating educational games in Moodle. They are:
Creating Effective Educational Games in Moodle
Using games in courses is not simply about adding “fun.” Games can help students interact with course content in ways that deepen learning. Rather than passively receiving information, students actively engage with concepts and practice skills in a safe, low-stakes environment. When designed well, game-based activities reinforce key ideas, provide immediate feedback, and give students opportunities to apply what they are learning.
In this workshop, we will explore some of the theory behind game creation and look at two Moodle tools that allow instructors to create simulation-type games and interactive activities that support active learning and student engagement.
Creating Simple Games and Interactive Activities in Moodle with H5P
H5P in Moodle includes a variety of interactive, mobile-friendly, and trackable activity types that can support game-based learning. Examples include Memory Games, Crosswords, Drag-and-Drop tasks, Guess the Answer, Find the Hotspot, and Game Maps.
This workshop will introduce several of these activity types, demonstrate how to create them in Moodle, and show how instructors can track and grade student participation.
Please register on our Upcoming Events page. We look forward to seeing you later this month!
