Restructuring Update from Provost's Office
Restructuring across the institution is well underway. Academic Affairs created seven committees composed of administrators, faculty, and staff to lead some of this work. Since April of 2025, they have been actively collecting data and now are presenting and sharing this work. We are extremely grateful for the dedicated work of these committees and the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and creativity they have demonstrated to develop proposals based on the charge and principles that have guided their work.
A lot has been happening and we want to share a brief update on next steps in the process.
Divisional Committees Update
The two divisional committees have been tasked with creating structures within the two divisions: the Division and College of Undergraduate Studies and the Division of Graduate and Professional Studies. These committees have presented a final model that has been received by the faculty. Final votes on these models by full-time faculty with primary appointments in their respective division occur on:
- 10/15 for the Division of Graduate and Professional Studies
- 10/16 for the Division of Undergraduate Studies
These models will move through institutional governance for information and for endorsement. This includes the Staff Senate, the Undergraduate Student Senate, and the Professional Student Senate at their October or November meetings.
The proposals will be voted on for receival on 10/23 and for endorsement (if received) on 11/20 by the Faculty Senate and on 11/13 and 12/4 by the University Council. Ultimately, the President’s Council will vote for approval by 12/5 to then provide an update to the Board of Trustees at their meeting on 12/6.
Non-divisional Committees Update
The non-divisional committees include the following:
- Student Academic Achievement Committee
- Boxer Journey Committee
- Interprofessional/Interdisciplinary Journey Committee
- Faculty Excellence
- Staff Excellence
These committees are on a slightly different timeline and are still collecting data and have been speaking with community members across the institution. They are using this data to bring proposals forward. These committees plan to hold two town halls over zoom on Wednesday, November 5th to share their ideas and collect additional feedback from the community. You can register using the links below for these Town Halls that will include presentations from the committee chairs and a time for Q & A.
This feedback will inform their final proposals that will be shared with the President’s Council by December 5. Until then, ongoing updates are shared on Enews and on the Transforming Our Pacific webpage.
Next steps
Final reports and proposals by all committees will be shared with the President's Council on December 5. These proposals will also be published on the Transforming Our Pacific webpage for the community to read. Late January and early February, the President’s Council will share next steps on how to move forward with these proposals, how we will prioritize, and begin implementation of the restructuring plans.
We value your feedback and participation in this ongoing restructuring process that will inform the future for Pacific and work to provide an even better student experience. If you have questions or feedback please reach out to your supervisor, Senator, or the chairs of the .
