Join the Nov 3 "Deep Dive" on Voting & Representation
Get your students talking — and thinking — about democracy! On November 3rd there will be a national one-hour "Deep Dive" event that pairs students from different schools and perspectives for one-on-one conversations about elections, representation, and what civic engagement really means. Pacific's McCall Center for Civic Engagement is an event partner and can help register individual students or your entire class, club or athletics team.
Calls can be scheduled for 11am or 2pm on Monday, November 3rd. A sign-up dashboard, prep material, and classroom resources will become available in early October. Please email Morgan Knapp at morganknapp@pacificu.edu to get your students involved.
About the Deep Dive:
The Deep Dive matches each student with a partner who may be from a different background, attend a different school, and have a different political ideology. Together, each pair is guided through a deep discussion about voting and representation in which they will:
- Talk about their personal experience, background, and opinions on voting.
- Review facts around voting, such as 2024 presidential election turnout stats and data on non-voters.
- Discuss the concept of “consent of the governed” in relation to facts they’ve just reviewed.
- Learn about and discuss tactics that could increase voter turnout.
- Brainstorm new ways to increase voter turnout in America.
