Current °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ undergraduate students interested in adding either an elementary or special education preliminary teaching license to their Education and Learning major, or a preliminary license to teach middle or high school to a subject-area major (i.e. Math, History, Art, etc.), can do so by applying to the School of Learning and Teaching to join the undergraduate preliminary licensure program.
This program allows students to complete additional professional licensure coursework that counts as electives at Pacific and complete a student-teaching experience during their last two years of their bachelor’s degree. Those who do will be licensed to teach upon completion. To be eligible for admission, students who apply must have declared their major, have a minimum GPA of 2.75, and be on track to complete all licensure coursework and their major within two years.
To apply:
- Create/update your resume. You will need to upload this when you apply.
- Complete the Application for by February 1 of your sophomore year. Please note that you cannot save and return to the application, so please plan to complete it in one sitting. It should take approximately 30 minutes. You will be prompted to attach your resume to your application on the last page of the application.
As soon as your application is complete and your resume is attached, you will be scheduled for an interview. After your interview, you will receive an admissions decision within a week.
Please contact Dr. Cristy Sellers, Undergraduate Chair for Education and Learning, if you have additional questions or need help determining your eligibility for the teaching program.
